RIP Leonard Nimoy

I generally try to avoid going with the media flow, but this time I couldn't resist. Leonard Nimoy was a great actor who I truly liked watching. He was Spock from Star Trek to most people, but I mainly remember him as Galvatron from The Transformers: The Movie, Sentinel Prime from Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and, most prominently, as William Bell from Fringe. For some reason, it never crossed my mind that he would die. I was surprised to find myself legitimately upset when finding out that Nimoy died very recently.
The world will miss his acting talent and his amazing voice. I don't know much about Leonard Nimoy outside his acting career… but I do hope that perhaps he will rest in peace.

RID Video React: Meet Strongarm

As usual, go and check out Hasbro's official transformers.com. And, as usual, you can see the video of topic here, or just watch it below.
Again, as usual, you can see a refreshed me watch this video and talk about… shipping. Note that I recorded this last week.
Ok, boys, lets get this over with quickly. Australia already has the first episode out, and I'm determined to access it!
I said so in the video, and I don't think I ever mentioned it in past posts: these backgrounds are simply astounding. I love the watercolor-esq style. Anyway, is it just me, or does this look like Jasper, Nevada? That would be awesome if we got to go to Jasper and meet older Raf, older Jack, older Miko… It's been couple years since Predacons Rising, so the kids will be quite a bit older by now.

"Luitenant!"

Again with the temple-esq area. It looks like Bumblebee's hood has been scratched, and he's going in full reverse towards the edge of a cliff. This is why its important to pay attention to your mirrors. Anyway, I suppose 'Bee was probably attacked by some 'Con and he retreated by hitting reverse. Unfortunately, his full attention was on the danger at hand and not on the cliff edge. It's a good thing he has Strongarm to watch his back.

I initially thought that this gun was Strongarm's capture device, but that didn't make sense to me, because in the past, Strongarm's capture device was longer, kind of like a rifle.
Later in the video, Strongarm draws what we know to be her capture device. Or not. At this point, I'm not sure about anything. Either Strongarm has a rifle and handgun (both of which transform into some form of laser crossbow) and we have yet to actually see her capture device (which seems unlikely), or the 'rifle' is the capture device and Strongarm has a handgun that looks almost exactly like it, or both are actually the same capture device and the device can change sizes.

"Watch the birdie!"
Constance Zimmer punches out Constance Zimmer. Strongarm can throw some badass one-liners too! For some reason, I didn't realize how very large Filch was until now. (Despite clear suggestions). We still have yet to see Filch in any other mode besides bird mode, but I bet she is a pretty big femme.

"You're my ties to Cybertron. More than any rule book."
"You're gonna be ok."
"But that's not to say I won't be writing you all up."
[Insert shippy look here] I'm wondering just how well Strongarm will adapt to being on earth. This whole conversation suggests a Strongarm who is way more used to Cybertronian traditions and rules and is possibly unsure about being on earth. Or a Strongarm who is intent on following and impressing Bumblebee (who is rather encouraging). Or, more likely, both. On earth, things are different, and Strongarm is gonna have to adapt to an unorthodox team with lack of protocol. You know what, I'm not making any sense right now seeing as my mind is starting to go numb, so let's get this over with.

Shippy, shippy, shippy…

So far, Strongarm seems pretty simple. She's been trained to follow the rule book and that's what she does. She's completely badass and has a gung-ho fighting style. Strongarm also has a certain level of naïvety, if that's the right word, which it probably isn't. Bumblebee is her hero, pretty much, and Strongarm is intent on impressing him. Though Strongarm is probably at the very least reluctant to go outside of protocol, I think her loyalty to Bumblebee might encourage her to think outside the box and take certain things that you just can't solve with rules into consideration.
Like Bumblebee, I can't wait to see Strongarm develop as a character. While I initially thought that Strongarm was going to be one of those characters who I wouldn't like because she is such a stickler for the rules, so far I'm actually liking her character. Strongarm is pretty enthusiastic, and eager to bring her training to the field. It's just, in contrast to Sideswipe, she needs to take her rule book out of consideration from time to time.
Unlike Smokescreen, the Elite Guard rookie from TFPrime, I can't see Strongarm going off and doing something rash in order to prove herself. Just throwing that out there. But then, you never know…
I swear that the writers are playing with us when it comes to a romantic relationship for Strongarm. It's not that often when we see romantic relationships in the Transformers cartoons. Actually, I'm probably wrong… Elita-1 and Sentinel were apparently an item in TFAnimated, Silverbolt and Blackarachnia had some form of relationship in Beast Wars, and there was a suggested relationship between Arcee and Cliffjumper in TFPrime… just to name a few. Anyway, I'm willing to bet the fandom will be shipping Strongarm with almost everyone in the cartoon. But canonly, I'm not sure what the writers are playing at. Just from the videos, there's a suggestion of a possible romantic relationship between Strongarm and 'Bee. I'm trying to avoid giving my opinion, but screw that. Sideswipe and Strongarm would be a more interesting couple. But, I digress like a girl. Moving on.
I'm mildly interested in Strongarm's past. Like Grimlock and Sideswipe, Strongarm is a new character to this cartoon universe. Thus, she is a whole new character to explore. (We already know most of Bumblebee's past). What encouraged Strongarm to be an Elite Guard? Why was she assigned to be Bumblebee's partner? I'm not sure if the cartoon will ever address Strongarm's past, or Sideswipe's. (They'll have to address Grimlock's past in some way at some point). But, here's to hoping they will.
Well, that's all I can think of to write today. I'm gonna go see if I can gain access to the first episode of Transformers: Robots In Disguise. GOSH, I'm so pumped!!
'Til all are one!

Contemplating my little brother

You are so enthusiastic and yet subdued at times. You are observant, and still easily distracted. You are loud, but can disappear into your quiet world for the longest time. You are passionate about what you love. You are confident and persistent. You know what you want because you think long and hard about it. Your imagination is boundless. You never get tired of humor. People tell you that you're amazing at what you do and you reply with a simple 'yeah, thanks,' because what you do is as common and easy to you as tying your shoes is to other people. 'I draw comics. No big.'
You are so willing to learn, and you learn so well. Our parents are so happy that you ask questions, absorb information. You learn differently, you get frustrated with certain subjects, but we're all ok with that. Our whole family learns differently anyway.
But you're entering something new now. I don't doubt that you'll be fantastic at it. You love being dramatic and you love dancing. But you haven't been around kids like these before. You have only been around so many of your peers, and they are either Autistic or ADHD or simply unique, like you. Or they are in our youth group, kids who have been raised to be kind and loving. But these kids, I don't know of they will be so accepting. And I'm so scared for you. You're almost thirteen, but you still talk like you're ten years old. Oh, you're getting wise beyond your years, but you're still a kid. A quirky and friendly and trusting kid. I don't want your enthusiasm to be whittled down by these kids.
We don't always interact at home. I love it when we do. We cheer each other on while we play video games. We play the goofiest games with our toys. We fight each other with swords and pillows, and I tire out long before you do. We don't always interact at home, but I always feel an urge to protect you when outside of home. 'I'm keeping an eye on my brother. He's that boy with the glasses and purple shirt. He's Autistic.' My way of saying, 'That boy is my little brother. He's Autistic, so be nice. Remember, he's my brother.'
I'm scared I won't always be around to explain that. I'm scared that you'll learn about things all the wrong way. I love you. Our parents love you. I think that they're sometimes scared about these things too.
But you're maturing. I know that I can't keep an eye on you all the time. I can only trust that God will watch over you. Trust that you will continue to enthusiastically learn about God. I love you, dude.
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." Proverbs 17:17.
It's one of my favorite verses, and I am determined to follow it. You are quirky and imaginative and thoughtful. Don't let people bring you down. Allow them to make you wiser in one way or another. I'm not a very wise person myself. I'm still growing. I know that I don't always make the best older sister, but I hope you know that I love you so much. I will learn to let you go, let you mature on your own. Trust God and set out in the world, little brother.

RID Video React: Meet Sideswipe

Ok, kids! Go ahead and check out transformers.com, and click here to see the video. Or you can just watch it below.

And don't forget my reaction. If you want. I was tired when I recorded.

So let's talk about one of the most beloved characters in the Transformers fandom (minus his twin, as usual).
Is that a chinese symbol on his chest plates? Japanese? Or perhaps its Cybertronian. Throughout the video there seems to be some sort of marking on Sideswipe's chest. It's unclear as to what it is… buuut it seems as though Sideswipe only gained it after he scanned an earth-alt. So it's probably not Cybertronian.

"You're a punk! You know how to take out security systems, don't you?"
"No! Maybe."

Are they… handcuffed together? Man, I wanna know the story behind this! So, at some point Sideswipe and Strongarm are gonna have to deal with each other. Actually, they're gonna have to deal with each other throughout the show. I'm actually really interested in what Strongarm and Sideswipe's relationship will be like, seeing as they are pretty much foils for each other.
Apparently the term 'punk' counts for anyone who can break into or out of something, at least to Strongarm. And apparently Sideswipe has a questionable past and occupation. We see in the sneak peek that Strongarm, and presumably Bumblebee, seems to be pursuing Sideswipe. Maybe he was caught breaking into someplace.
By the way, due to the fact that Sideswipe doesn't have any symbol besides his Autobot insignia on his chest plates, and due to the fact that he doesn't have wheels on his shoulders, and due to the fact that Strongarm's wheels are Cybertronian and not earth form, it can be assumed that this is set early on in the series, most likely on Cybertron. Perhaps Strongarm was pursuing Sideswipe and something went awry. Maybe she handcuffed him to herself after she caught him. Maybe the whole reason that Sideswipe was brought along to earth was because he happened to be handcuffed to Strongarm when she decided to pursue Bumblebee to earth.

Judging by Sides' alt-form (note lack of chinese symbol btw), this is set pretty early on in the series. Possibly pretty soon after the bots' earth fall, because I'm pretty sure that Grimlock is attacking them. Just because a bot is amnesic doesn't mean that they might react violently if provoked. And, due to his 'Con symbols, I could see the Autobots provoking Grimlock…

I'm pretty sure that Sideswipe is going to be Russell's 'guardian'. While that seems like a really awesome concept, in-universe I'm wondering what on earth, moon and Cybertron anyone was thinking giving guardianship of anyone to Sideswipe. Unless Sideswipe isn't so much Russell's guardian, but rather, his best friend, default partner, automatic protector. Kind of like Bumblebee and Sari Sumdac in Transformers: Animated.
In the Animated cartoon, Sari and Bumblebee shared a friendship typical to young pranksters. They repeatedly got into trouble (the trouble usually being Bumblebee's fault), and were a source of exasperation for the other Autobots. Sari was typically the smarter, slightly more level-headed one of the duo, maybe even the more responsible one, but that didn't stop her from pretty much being the devil on 'Bee's shoulder.
I could see Sideswipe a Russell sharing a friendship a lot like Bumblebee and Sari's, though I could also see Russell being more reserved than Sari. I could also see Sideswipe being just a little bit more responsible than Animated 'Bee. A little bit. Micro bit.
Wait, does this make Sideswipe the kid-appeal character for Robots in Disguise? Younghipwith a human as a best friend?

Underbite attacks, Sideswipe and Russell dodge, Russell runs, Sideswipe follows (into a forest). Due to the fact that Sideswipe's bot form clearly shows that he hasn't scanned an alt-form yet, this is set early in the series, maybe even right after earth fall. In the sneak peek we see Russell leading Sideswipe through a forest, showing that Russell trusts Sideswipe (also showing that this scene and that scene are connected). It might be that the first bot that Russell saw was Sideswipe. In fact, again due to the sneak peek, that is very likely. The two bond, Underbite attacks Sideswipe, Russell tries to lead Sideswipe away. Sideswipe transforms, allowing the two of them a quicker get away, but Sideswipe bumps into Strongarm and Bumblebee along the way, leading to further introductions. All of this is being theorized from the sneak peek, by the way, and there are lots of holes.

I know I've mentioned Sideswipe's very ninjutsu-esq style in the past, and it is certainly a source of fascination for me. Not only that, Sideswipe seems to take this whole fighting thing pretty seriously. Throughout all the fighting scenes I've seen so far with Sideswipe, he has never once talked. One would assume that a snarky, 'bad boy' personality like Sideswipe would at least throw a quip or two in. Now, granted, when you're really focusing even the snarkiest person would put their thoughts into the fight and not the trash talk. But this has been at the back of my mind for awhile, so I might as well get it out.
On the subject of Sideswipe's fighting style, in my Meet Team Bumblebee post I mentioned that perhaps Sideswipe is a young ninjabot and he has an origin story similar to TFAnimated Prowl. I like that theory, but it would also be cool of the writers decided to go a little bit for G1 Sideswipe's (IDW, possibly Marvel and fanon) story and give RID '15 Sideswipe a past as some sort of gladiator. Perhaps not a gladiator, but maybe an underground fighter. I know there is only so much there is allowed to be in this show, since it's supposed to be more kid friendly than TFPrime was, but I would like a gladiator backstory for Sidewipe.

Things of interest: Steeljaw. Steeljaw vs. Sideswipe. The scratches on Steeljaw's insignia(s). That stone-age-esq shelter. Is that Strongarm in said shelter?
I want to see this epic showdown so bad. Sideswipe, who is seriously no slacker in the fighting department, and Steeljaw, the self-proclaimed leader of the Decepticon convicts. It looks as though Strongarm might be unconscious. Maybe she attempted to face down Steeljaw and failed. What is the deal with those claw marks on Steeljaw's insignia? And what is the deal with that cave of branches? Is it just a cave, or might it be a tunnel? If so, a tunnel to what? If it is just a cave, then why does it exist and why is it made of branches? Is it maybe Steeljaw's temporary haunt that he built? Perhaps Sideswipe and Strongarm attempted to attack Steeljaw in his haunt. Man, I am so full of energetic theories right now.

Decepticon symbol. Yep, that's a really big, really yellow Decepticon symbol. Fascination is unbound. Perhaps Sideswipe attempted to go undercover as a Decepticon, because let's face it, Sideswipe is like Peter Bishop from Fringe: he is part of the good guys, but he can slide smoothly into the criminal/Decepticon skin/frame. Likewise, Strongarm is like Olivia Dunham from Fringe: obviously a symbol of authority, can walk into a room and people automatically know that she is an authority figure (it helps that Strongarm has the Elite Guard symbol prominent on her chassis). Anyway, yeah, it would be absolutely fascinating, and possibly disturbingly easy, for Sideswipe to go undercover as a Decepticon.

"The more parts we find the better our chances of finding fugitives nearby to recapture."

"In this grid alone there are probably-"
"Ow!"
"And that, funny-bot, is what happens when someone sticks his finger in my audio receptor."
Facts revealed: Cybertronians can leak some form of lubricant through their mouths so as to give wet willies. Strongarm takes slag from no one, but we already kinda knew that. Bumblebee (and probably Fixit as well) has some sort of geographical profile in order to track down the 'Cons, and while it sounds pretty logical, it's pretty general and the possibility of them still finding fugitives around the parts isn't really large. Sideswipe and Strongarm already have their earth alts. Sideswipe seems to go out of his way to irritate Strongarm (at risk of his arm); I wonder how far they writers'll push this middle-school hate relationship. For some reason the use of the words 'audio receptor' make me happy.
On a related note, since it's said that Sideswipe attempted sticking his finger into Strongarm's audio receptor, it suggests that Cybertronians have some sort of hole in their helm (to stick fingers into) through which they absorb sound, like humans, as opposed to… just being able to hear through some sort of unseen receptor on either side of their helms. This is odd since you don't see anything like audial holes in Strongarm's helm or anyone else's. (Granted, Steeljaw seems to have some pretty big ears, but I don't think you wanna give a wet willie to that guy).

Sideswipe dances (sort of). We already knew this, and I think it's really funny. He's really bad at vocal percussion, though. XD Ironic, considering the voice actor of Sideswipe. (Darren Criss)

Ok, kiddies! Wow, compared to my bland reaction video… Geez, this review is fragging long, and not so much a review, but rather an analysis. My Meet Bumblebee analysis probably would've been über long as well if it hadn't been for my time restriction. Also, I somehow found way more story tidbits in here than I cared to look for in the other ones (my excuse being that I was tired during the other analyses). Anyway, the point is this was way longer than I expected it to be, but I'm not done yet. Time for character analysis, predictions… and wishes.
Sideswipe is a beloved character in the Transformers fandom. A jock, a bad boy, definitely snarky, with an often vague backstory, my favorite one being that he used to be a gladiator. The G1 Marvel continuity comics suggested that Sideswipe might've been a gladiator, and the G1 IDW continuity comics briefly showed that he joined the gladitorial pits. The fandom developed the backstory quite significantly. So much in fact that it's become widely accepted fanon. Whether Sideswipe's gladitorial past is mainly fanon or not, I still want RID Sideswipe to have some form of G1 Sideswipe's gladitorial background. I think that it would be cool if Sideswipe had been in some fighting club back on Cybertron (I could see him being that kid who often gets on the wrong side of the wrong bots). But I only wish, and the possibility of this happening simply because it would be cool, or because a vague comic book story said so, or because the fandom loves and practically created this backstory, isn't very large.
Now to actually talking about RID Sides. He's obviously a bad boy, that's a no duh, and has a fairly egotistical regard of himself. He has questionable talents, some serious fighting skills, and goes out of his way to annoy Strongarm. Being friends with Russell, however, shows that he has a bit of a soft spot.
I said in a past post (and this analysis) that I'm interested in how exactly Sideswipe gained his fighting skills. He doesn't seem like the type who would join the army, and yet he has some very mean combatical knowledge under his belt. I'm not sure if the show will address this since it's a kids show, and just so long as the robots fight cool it doesn't matter how they learned to fight cool. Then again, Animated was mainly aimed at kids, and it gave some of the most touching and dark backstories ever. So who knows, maybe we will get an interesting backstory on Sides… Please be a ninjabot...
Speaking of interesting backstory, Sideswipe's suggested abilities to break security systems and the fact that Strongarm was chasing him down (sneak peek) suggests Sideswipe has a questionable pastime and/or occupation. This makes me a little more sure that Sideswipe isn't in the army. An Autobot, yes, but not part of the army. I might be wrong about this. After all, someone can still have a now law-breaking occupation and a disregard for authority, and still have been, or can be, in the army. But, when I say it like that it sounds ridiculous. Just take my thoughts as something to consider.
Ok, this post has gone for way too long, so I'm gonna have to wrap up soon. I'll just rant about one thing: Sunstreaker. Every hardcore Transfan knows that Sideswipe has a twin brother named Sunstreaker.
Depending on what you watch or read, Sunstreaker is a bit of a sociopath, with some awesome painting skills (IDW) and brutal fighting skills to match. The sociopathy might or might not be due to the fact that he, like his brother, was a gladiator (in the Marvel comics and IDW comics). Sunstreaker is also a real egomaniac with a high regard of himself and his golden paintjob. Seriously, don't touch the paintjob if you wanna live. He's kind of sullen and a little grumpy, but shows great enthusiasm when fighting and/or racing (Generation One cartoon and possibly the comics). What's most important, though, is that Sunstreaker is Sideswipe's brother, and though the comics show a fairly strained relationship (even if Sideswipe is one of the few bots Sunstreaker can get along with), when you see the two of them together in the G1 cartoon they have a pure awesome dynamic (the jet judo scene in Roll For It is one of my favorites).
And we haven't seen an onscreen incarnation of Sunstreaker since the 1980s. Oh, we get Sideswipe. We get Sideswipe in cartoons, movies and games, but no Sunstreaker. At all. SERIOUSLY!? Maybe it's because kids don't care for a sullen character, but still… SERIOUSLY?!
PLEASE, writers of RID '15. This is your chance to give us Sunstreaker! You could enter him in the second season! We haven't seen a cartoon incarnation of Sunny since the G1 cartoon! You don't have to make him a completely brutal sociopath! Maybe an angster, but still, a smartass angster. Let us finally have one of the best brother duos in the Transformers fandom onscreen! (Screw Skids and Mudflap from Bay-verse, I really didn't care for them). We, the fandom, beg you… Sunny and Sides, together onscreen at last!
Ok, I think I'm done. This was way longer than it should've been, and I need to wrap this up. The next react-to-video analysis will be on Strongarm, and that will probably be the last one. Fixit doesn't have a video for some reason, poor guy. Thank you if you read all of this.
'Til all are one.

From Samuel Cooper

[school writing assignment: step into the mindset of a (fictional) man named Samuel Cooper and write a letter to his family in Bristol, exploring what his life is like at Boston during the mid-1600s]

My dearest mother,

It pleases me to tell you that we have finally arrived in Boston. While I intended to write for you many letters while at sea, I am afraid that seasickness prevented me from doing so. I do not understand how James can walk on his own two legs as sure as though he were on land, but I cannot take a step without an intense feeling of nausea. However, I am fortunate that seasickness is the only thing that ailed me. Many people on the ship were far less fortunate than I in their ailments.
It has been four days since we made port and I am still looking for an apprenticeship. While I am looking to be a craftsman, it seems that most of the work here involves boarding a boat. This is fortunate for James, as he is already looking to be a trader. I suppose he was born to be a seafarer. Unfortunately for myself, there do not seem to be many craftsmen here, but I will continue searching.
I have seen many Indians here, interacting with the inhabitants of Boston. Though I myself am wary of them, they seem rather friendly. James has even made friends with some of them.
Natives aside, there is only one other thing I am wary of and that would be the Puritan church. Yes, they act open, and they are intent on keeping God's law, but just the other day I witnessed the hanging of a man whom the Puritans called a Quaker. As of yet, I do not know much about this branch of religion, but the Puritans are highly against them. For myself, whether they persecute this separate branch of Christianity remains to be seen, but I pray it is not so. I have not committed myself to any resident church, and though it pleases me to see that the Puritans wish to live on God's law, I do not wish to be a persecutor.
I do pray that you are faring well, mother. I am sorry that I forgot the box. I only realized half-way through the journey that it was missing, but for now I leave it in Cassandra's care. Perhaps you too may come to Boston, once myself and James have settled in, and bring the box with you.
To Cassandra, I tell you that the sky seems bluer in Boston. Where there are no towns, there are trees and fields, acres of them, farther than I care to navigate. Every morning I awake to the smell of salt and lumber, the air more refreshing than it ever was in Bristol. It is beautiful, Cassandra, very beautiful.
James wishes me to tell you that he is missing you and mother. I miss you too, Cassandra, you and mother. One day, I hope, you both may come to Boston. Give my love to Jonathan.

Respectfully, your son and brother,
Samuel Cooper

RID Video React: Meet Grimlock

Go to transformers.com yourself if you want to. You can see the following video on the site, or just watch it below. See, read this in a very tired and bland voice… Like Shego, I guess. I have been catching up on Kim Possible. It's amazing how much I've missed when I was little and how much I'm getting into as a teenager… I've got some interesting issues.

Such as the fact that I haven't posted in awhile. Here, you can watch me watch this video, even though I recorded it a long while ago. (First or second of February)
Ok, so I'm tired, as usual, I'm recovering from a cold and my new retainers are irritating me, but I think that I'll be in a better mood by the end of this post. So, let's get down!

"Grimlock, no!"
Grimlock, wat r u doing? Grimlock, stahp! Gee, I crack myself up. Anyway, it is made obvious that Grimlock is incredibly headstrong, and doesn't seem to have any regard to orders. But we already knew that.

When she saw this video, my sister said, "You know that this cartoon is gonna be cute when they use animation like this." And I agree with her. What? Transformers Animated was cute sometimes. And dark sometimes. And plenty of fun. It's not like Robots in Disguise can't have the same combo.
I don't see why Grimlock can't just transform into bot mode. While I'm sure it won't help him buoyancy problem, it might make it easier to get out of the water. Unless he goes walking along the ocean floor in dino mode until he gets to shore and enters Crown City like a robotic Godzilla… Actually, I could totally see that happening.

[lack of quote due to the fact that I have absolutely no idea what GL said in this scene. Heh, GL…]
Well… At this point I have no idea what use Grimlock would have for a bot mode. I mean, he seems pretty flexible (sometimes literally) in his dino mode. Grimlock seems to function very well in his dino mode, his arms not being the typical tiny T-rex arms, and his tail being a deadly weapon. I just realized… Does Grimlock have any form of fire power in here? It doesn't seem so, but breathing fire or having a fire sword would be pretty cool, like the past Grimlocks.
It looks like Underbite attacked the bots at Denny's scrapyard, by the way. My tired brain gives no theories or predictions.

"I'm a truck.'
I'm sorry, but I found this to be completely adorable. While trying to imagine why Grimlock would 'dress up' like a truck, I decided that this might be a sarcastic (or even non-sarcastic) response to Bumblebee's robots in disguise quota. Like, seriously… the cartoon is called 'Robots in Disguise'. Bumblebee did this whole little speech thing about how they had to be 'robots in disguise' (after agreeing to bring Grimlock on a mission). Is no one gonna comment on the fact that Grimlock is the last bot you want around while trying to fulfill that phrase? Anyway, maybe someone commented on the fact that Grimlock is most certainly not a robot in disguise, an he cobbled up this costume…

This was a rather short video, not giving much on Grimlock. From what we can see, he is a bruiser who doesn't seem to like taking orders from anyone. But, like most large and wrecking prone (good guy) Transformers, he seems to have a fun, and maybe even cuddly side. At some point he seems to understand the Autobots' maneuvers, and work with them as a team, but I know that there will be an episode focusing on the fact that Grimlock is really headstrong and how he needs to deal with it.
This cartoon puts an new twist on the character of Grimlock. In the past, Grimlock has been a mildly dimwitted, stubborn, broken speeched but sometimes lovable T-Rex bot with a thing for breaking stuff. In here, Grimlock is a lot more coherent, using full sentences and everything, and probably has a pretty average intellegence span. He's still stubborn, and seems to still have a penchant for at least beating stuff up.
I do wish that the video could've given a little more on the fact that Grimlock used to be a Decepticon and now apparently has amnesia. I can't wait to see what kind of story stems from that fact. It makes me wonder exactly what Grimlock did or what he was like as a Decepticon. Why would he be on Cybertron's most wanted list? *gasp* What if he dies like Dinobot did in Beast Wars: Transformers?
With that happy thought in mind: 'til all are one!

RID Video React: Meet Bumblebee

Hey, hey, hey! Go to Hasbro's transformers.com, and check out their videos yourself! You can watch today's topic down below, or you can check it out yourself.

Also, see my really enthusiastic reaction to above video! Seriously, I don't think I've freaked out this much since the first sneak peek came out!
Anyway, I'm going to Singapore in a couple hours, so let's get down. And by the way, yes, my braces have been removed after four long years.

"My name is Bumblebee."
The amount of badassery in this clip is insurmountable (as of yet). I was almost jumping up and down like a little kid as I watched this. It was awesome seeing all the different sides of 'Bee (or at least most). The snarky badass side, the fun-loving side and the responsible-ish side. We mainly saw badass and fun-loving in the first season and most of the second season of Prime. By the time Smokescreen became the youngest Autobot, Bumblebee began coming off as more responsible, especially in Predacons Rising. Anyway, moving on.

What? What? Why...? What? Ok, so I don't know what series of events led up to this, but I know that Thunderhoof is involved. I also can't wait to see what series of events led up to this either…

"Looks like you took beating after all."
I guess Hammerstrike underestimated Bumblebee's AWESOMENESS! (Though I can see 'Bee getting a little overconfident himself). (Gotta leave in two hours, sorry if this is very quick and choppy).

"Oh! Oh, I love this song!"
It has always been an idea, either canon or fanon (most likely canon) that Bumblebee is a huge fan of music and dancing. Mainly due to the really cute dancing scenes that we sometimes see in Prime. You gotta admit, that Bumblebee, with his general adorableness and lack of speech, did seem like to type who would love music for its expressiveness. And it looks like Bumblebee still has that love for music and dancing. That is adorable, and completely awesome.

"You are ready to lead, Bumblebee. Do not doubt yourself."
WHY IS HE HERE!? I mean, he looks so real! He looks real! Why is he here?! He is totally messing me up!
Ok, I actually have very little theories as to why Optimus would be here in this form. The big one is that this is a dream. Optimus first appeared to 'Bee to tell him to go to earth. Then, at the end of the first episode or something, Optimus appears again, encouraging our young leader.
Still… Why are you here? You look so real…..

All in all, I can't wait to see Bumblebee for real. In an actual episode. He's responsible, snarky, has a natural knack for leadership, but seems to have a lack of confidence in his own abilities. When I started out hearing about Bumblebee, seeing his new look, hearing about his new job (leader of a small team) I was kind of turned off. I was really excited at the prospect of a new show, but I missed fun-loving Bumblebee. It was odd to me, watching him take command in Predacons Rising.
Bumblebee was the kid-appeal character, and everyone knows that kid-appeal characters… well, it's really hard to watch them mature. But Bumblebee, as we know, was looking to be a warrior. In season one, he was declared a little too immature to actually rise to rank of warrior yet. By season three, he tells Smokescreen that he has been offered the rank of warrior, but is putting it off until they go back to Cybertron. In Predacons Rising, we see Bumblebee finally being promoted from scout to warrior, and we see why he has earned it. He's matured to some degree, and he is naturally gifted in leadership.
That is fantastic. It is real character development. But as much as I was happy to see Bumblebee rise to his potential, I was still a little turned off. This continued even as I reviewed Robots In Disguise. But as time went on, I came to see how frigging awesome 'Bee is as a leader character. Because he's only beginning as a leader. We are going to see him develop his already existent skills, get over his fears and insecurities. And heck, we still get to see him have fun! HE'S STILL DANCING FOR PRIMUS' SAKE! And goodness, guys, just because you're a leader doesn't mean you can't have fun and have your moments of immaturity. I suppose it's all dependent on your personality, but we all know that 'Bee has always been a fun character. (To some degree. IDW 'Bee just got über angsty). While we will see him mature, and maybe even get angsty, I'm pretty sure BB will still be a fun and snarky character.
Also, he's voiced by Ron Stopp- Sorry, Will Friedle. C'mon!
Anyway, 'till all are one!
